7 Gates was founded in summer 2008 by Tobias Neumann, Simon W., Jonas Thomé and Sascha Burow, after it was decided to put IN EXILE on hold for a while. We wanted to continue our musical past under a new banner and in a different musical way.When the songwriting process started, the shared experience of the past years of composing together and also the musical diversity of us all proved quickly that in short time a new shape of sound would be developed.

After a short time the first songs had been written and the last vacant position, the singer, had to be filled. So we were lucky to meet Matthias after a short while of searching and it didn't took him long to conquer the mic. A few sessions later we knew that Matthias was exactly the singer we had been looking for.

So we brought together the music we had created in the past months and merged it with Matthias' voice to complete the sound of 7 Gates: A mixture of melodic riffing and interwoven sound passages which are combined with growls and meldodical clean singing. Our sound does not want to fit in the footsteps of others, but tries to experience its own ways.
